EUMETSAT – monitoring weather and climate from space

Updated: Sep 9, 2020

EUMETSAT, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites, based in Germany, operates European weather and climate-monitoring satellites on behalf of its 30 Member States. At EUMETSAT, "we monitor weather and climate from space". EUMETSAT is a mission-driven organisation characterised by its closeness to its user community, the national weather services from its Member States, with an obligation to deliver data services 24/7 with very high reliability and accuracy.

In the years to come, EUMETSAT will totally renew its fleet of satellites in both geostationary and polar orbit, with its Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) and Metop-Second Generation satellites replacing its existing spacecraft. A launch each year for five years is planned to start in 2022.

International cooperation is also at the heart of EUMETSAT activities.

To deliver our services, we rely on highly qualified and ever increasing human resources and have special programmes dedicated to young professionals.

The EUMETSAT Early Career Programme offers opportunities for young professionals to work in tandem with our international team of experts and get a first real contract and working experience.
